Licensing a Netscaler (VPX) and the “…key size greater than RSA512 or DSA512 bits not supported error”

Good morning,

Having this error? “Certificate with key size greater than RSA512 or DSA512 bits not supported..”
Might be due to incorrect licensing… So you did upload a license file, now did ya?

Note that the licensing component in a Netscaler (VPX), expects a license file allocation (via My Citrix) based on a MAC address as a  HOSTNAME (or hence, as it says in brackets,  a device ID) Straight from the help page:

Licensing deployment of Citrix NetScaler

The Citrix NetScaler license is installed in the appliance. To redeem your Citrix NetScaler license (release 8.0 and later), you will need the MAC address of the appliance. To obtain the MAC address, perform the following actions:

Upgrade your appliance to Citrix NetScaler 8.0 (or later) and log onto the appliance.

At the command prompt, type “shell” (no quotes).

At the appliance, type “lmutil lmhostid -ether” (no quotes). –>> You might want to skip the -ether switch… (gave a syntax error)

The MAC address is displayed and is formatted as: 00c095ca0909.  To redeem the appliance license, type the MAC address into the “Hostname” field (do not use the MAC address provided above).  At the appliance, type “exit” (no quotes). You are returned to the appliance command line.

Gotta love IT Consulting,.. anyways Goodluck,
