Which MAC address of a Netscaler to use for Licensing

Hi,

How to find out the ‘correct’ MAC address for licensing a Citrix Netscaler.

Access your Netscaler bij means of SSH. You can download Putty SSH client here:

http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html

Login with root user. (default nsroot/nsroot)

Run the following command:

root@ns1# lmutil lmhostid –ether

Displays:
lmutil – Copyright (c) 1989-2006 Macrovision Europe Ltd. and/or
Macrovision
Corporation. All Rights Reserved.
The FLEXlm host ID of this machine is “00d068107316

For more info, see:

NOTE: You don’t need a MAC address for Licensing a Citrix Netscaler SDX machine. Citrix Netscaler SDX license files are not bound to the MAC address for a Netscaler. Just download and upload the license files then you are done

Also, if you are alocating ‘Universal’ licenses don’t alocate on HostID but use the HOSTNAME of a Netscaler.

Greetings,

Ronny.
