Citrix XenMobile Device Manager connected Apple devices and a Proxied WiFi

Citrix XenMobile leverages the Apple Push Notification Service, APNS for short.
APNS uses a bunch of IP ports

The APNS IP Ports cannot Handle a proxy. Without APNS devices cannot be managed.

If you are able to open the right IP Port, directly, without the proxy, then you’re good to go.

If this is not possible, and when Proxy is a must, then the WiFi infrastructure that utilizes a Proxy cannot be used to Enroll and Manage Apple Devices.

Provisioning Server 7 – Database Scan: caught MapiException on db open, msg

Troubles with installing Citrix Provisioning Server 7 ?

Somewhere in the log you might find this

Creating Farm…FAILED. FAILED.
[16:07:19:615] Error: MODIFY FILE failed. Specified size is less than or equal to current size.
MODIFY FILE failed. Specified size is less than or equal to current size.
[16:07:19:615] Error: Source = .Net SqlClient Data Provider

Have a look at this CTX article:

I also had this problem with PVS7 on Server 2012 with SQL 2012 SP1. It has to do with the ‘model’ database on the SQL server. More or less it is a bit to big for the PVS Configuration utility. There are numerous solutions. The ‘model’ database is a ‘default configuration’ , a model, for new databases. We changed the MODEL database FILE size to anything smaller that 20 MB. Also did that for the LOG size, just to be sure.

Some other things to keep in mind..

  • Are there any data base files left form previous installs ? (when you remove a ‘old’ database in SQL Studio you won’t actually remove the database file from the DATA and LOG folders)
  • Supported OS/SQL server? (see for product specs)

Good luck,
