Server 2008 64 Bit Enterprise Memory usage – Driver Locked Memory

Loads of Driver Locked Memory, showing up in RAMMap.

RAMMAP is monitoring a Virtual Machine.

You have more VM memory assigned then configured in the memory limits of the VM.
(so, the unlimited checkbox is not checked.)

a VM has 1 GB memory initial configured. With 1 GB of memory limits configured (VM > edit settings > resources tab).

Case: Admin does a adjust to VM memory configuration to 4 GB, he forgets to adjust the VM memory Limit.

3 GB of memory gets forces to use balloon memory

http://communities.vmware.com/message/1729667

Resolution: Ajust VM memory and memory limits to be equal or dont use limits (check the ‘unlimited’ checkbox)

Perform the following actions in a system restore command prompt to fix:

Reg load HKLM\BaseSystem C:\Windows\System32\config\SYSTEM

Reg Delete “HKLM\BaseSystem\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager” /v SetupExecute

Reg add “HKLM\BaseSystem\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager” /v SetupExecute /t REG_MULTI_SZ

Reg unload HKLM\BaseSystem

Reboot,
OS Startup and system does update rollback
Reboot

(I also performed a

DISM /image:E:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions

(/image:E:\ where E:\ is your root windows folder! do check. Win PE mounts drives in different order…)

from a system restore command prompt, but this step shouldn’t be necessary)

UPDATE:
Do not forget to try a install of 2008 R2 SP1 again !! The OS might say its SP1 but may have missed a few installs because of the error.
